SYLVIA STEVENS

PRODUCER | DIRECTOR

Sylvia  is a co-founder of Faction Media (FKA Faction Films) and has over 25 years experience as an award-winning producer and director. She has made programmes for UK broadcasters – BBC, Channel 4, ITV – and internationally – RTE, PBS, NHK, ARTE, SBS, AVRO, STV, and YLE amongst others.  She has done co-productions in Latin America – Cuba, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil – and in India, South Africa, Australia and Japan. 

Sylvia was recently the writer of feature documentary Chevolution - on the iconography of Che Guevara - which has been sold to international broadcasters.

Her films range from the social and political to the arts, and include Picturing Derry (Northern Ireland), War Takes (war in Colombia), Tales Beyond Solitude (Gabriel Garcia Marquez on writing for cinema), Mariscal and Love Honour and Disobey (domestic violence). 

Sylvia has been the EAVE Documentary Expert since 2005 and has run workshops in Colombia, South Africa, Egypt, Tunisia, Turkey and Cuba.

She is a tutor on ACCESS and teaches Producing Documentary at Royal Holloway University.

PETER DAY

PRODUCER | DIRECTOR

Peter has produced and directed award-winning documentaries for UK and international broadcasters since 1991. Most recently he has produced series such as The Real Football Factories (Bravo), Scam City (Discovery/NatGeo) & Drugs Inc (Netflix). 

He’s made European co-productions for HBO, ARTE, TV2 Denmark, YLE Finland, WDR Germany, and more.

He’s made a number of successful durational series such as The Brothel aka Love for Sale produced in 2003 for the BBC, a major 10 part documentary series set in legal brothels in Nevada, still broadcast regularly on BBC3. He series-produced Smart Hearts for Channel 4, the first TV and internet convergence documentary series which was nominated for an Indie Award.

He has a strong background in sports documentaries and produced the four-part series A Whole Different Ball Game for the BBC.

RISHI GOSH-CURLING

HEAD OF DEVELOPMENT | PRODUCER

Rishi has worked on a number of productions spanning different genres from his beginnings in the TV/film industry, from entertainment and factual series to one-off documentaries. Responsible for the everyday running of Faction Media and developing treatments for shows, to picking up the camera and filming, he’s the heart of Faction and the one with all the answers.  

Dolly Church

Researcher

Dolly is a passionate researcher, taking her first steps into the film industry after working as an editor and journalist. A key part of the development team, she is interested in bringing to light overlooked stories about politics, environmentalism and technology. Her favourite directors include Abbas Kiarostami, Errol Morris and Tamara Kotevska.
